April just flew by. When I started to think about this blog post, I couldn't come up with a single thing to write, and at the same time, so many fun and delicious things were happening this month. It was an excellent combination of hanging out with family and friends while working hard on new recipes and projects.
A lot of recipe testing and filming. Going on vacations means a lot of work for business owners before and after the break. So there was a lot of recipe testing, filming, and preparing the materials ahead this month, as Jernej is planning to take the first 14 days in May. We love having family time, and in May, we're going on our first trip as a family of four, so we are excited about that.
Work and fun continue. We thought we would get more work done outside in our DIY outdoor terrace and kitchen in April, but Jernej got sick, and there's only so much you can do with a baby and toddler. However, we decided to enjoy the sun and have a fun family barbecue on Saturday, our favorite way to cook in the summer.
Easter was amazing. We hung out with our extended family, and Adam even went Easter egg hunting with his cousins for the first time. We also went to church, but Adam and I spent about 95% of our time outside - which I think is normal for a busy toddler. Jernej baked a lot this year. He made two different babkas, traditional Slovenian bread "Vrtanek," small rolls, and more delicious treats. My mom hosted Easter brunch, so the whole family gathered, and we loved it. Events like that fill us with so much positive energy.
So much is happening in our garden already. Spring is here, and with Spring comes new produce in our garden. That makes us so happy. Rhubarb is ready for harvest, and the first thing I will make is this delicious Rhubarb Compote - it is so good. We already picked the first asparagus too. In Spring, summer, and early autumn, we are so grateful to eat homegrown vegetables, such pride and joy. Our plum bloomed for the first time in five years, which is exciting. We adore plums and love making homemade jam and Plum Dumplings, yum.
Short and Sweet
Luggage - We finally picked up our new suitcase. We decided to buy this Eastpak suitcase, and I hope it will be big enough for both kids.
NETFLIX. How to get rich? We love this new docuseries. It's not so much about money, well it is, but it's also about the true meaning of richness in life. Is it family, holidays, or career? Everyone must find their rich life, and the series got us thinking about it.
Smoothies. I bought myself the Nutribullet mixer, and I love it. We drink smoothies for breakfast now, and I love how it makes me feel. It gives me so much energy, and I love that our son gets some nutrients, even if he refuses veggies for lunch later.
PORTO, PORTUGAL. We're off to Porto for a few days - I couldn't be more excited.
A Wish of the Month
